Thesis Statement
What is a thesis statement?According to the description provided in previous Senior Project packets, a thesis statement is a short, 1-2 sentence, statement about the topic being examined. It is a clear and specific statement that only covers what you plan to discuss in your paper and should be supported with specific evidence obtained from your research. The thesis statement usually appears at the end of your introduction and serves as a preview for the reader.
*Note: Your position may change as you research your topic, so you may need to revise your thesis statement to accurately reflect what you will be discussing in the paper. Don't worry if you need to revise your thesis statement. Revision is an important part of the research process.
